Therefore, it isn’t likely in the firm’s interest to advocate new or novel areas of the law or engage in certain motion practice or other tactics which may stray from industry norms or push boundaries. Ultimately, their hard work translates only into more billable hours and you’re handcuffed by the firm’s ideas on how your case or transaction should work out. Their best interest does not always align with yours. Obtaining independent advice is more difficult than it has to be.
